Demonstration by Jackii Molsick, March 4th Member Meeting We are happy to announce that the demo will be by CFWS member Jackii Molsick. Jackii will focus on "Expanding Boundaries of Traditional Watercolor & Water Media". Jackie will be showing how to use masa paper to get a batik-like effect for a painting background. "I will also be demonstrating the use of fluid acrylics on art tissue paper. This tissue paper, when dry, can then be used to collage over the batik background, or used on another previously painted background, to add dimension to your paintings." |
At the February meeting, we welcomed five new members to our group: Ahlin, Bud Dare, Sandy Donnan, Mary Schatte and Karen Weiss. Artist Pat Dews, AWS, NWS, presented an informative demonstration on the process she takes in creating her experimental works in watermedia on paper and canvas. She paints the abstract essence of nature. The shapes and textures of flowers, rocks, water and crumbled walls are translated into richly layered paint surfaces. Collage is often integrated. When Pat paints, it is a lively, fascinating performance as she shows that, with the simplest tools, less can become more, much more.
